FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State pulled away after halftime to pick up a 263.135-250.240 victory over King University on Saturday afternoon at Joe Retton Arena.
With the win, FSU improves to 4-3 on the season and snaps a three-match losing streak in the process. The Falcons will close up the 2015 season on Friday at 6 p.m. when Baylor and Alderson Broaddus invade Joe Retton Arena for a tri-meet.
Fairmont State grabbed a 37.90-36.85 advantage following the compulsory event, in part to a perfect score of 10 in the pyramid heat. The Falcons also recorded a 9.60 in both the acro and toss heats of the compulsory event.
Fairmont went into halftime with a very slim 95.15-94.70 lead after falling to the Tornado in both the acro (29.10-28.60) and pyramid (28.75-28.65) events by slim margins.
The Falcons used an event-high 9.60 in the open toss heat following halftime, led by
Danielle DiCarlo,
Nicole Uccello,
Angela Viscount,
Stacy Rhodes,
Allison Rogers and
Brooke Fadeley, to win the toss event by more than two points and created some seperation heading in the tumbling event.
In tumbling, Fairmont State used strong scores by DiCarlo (9.225) in the aerial pass,
Lacey Peterson (8.850) in the six element pass and
Lauren Williams (9.100) in the open pass to win the event 50.725-47.050.
The Falcons wrapped up the meet by holding an 89.56-83.09 advantage in the team event.
