Stout Named NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week

WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Fairmont State's Michael Stout has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the voting committee this afternoon. Stout has also earned Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week honors in each of the last two weeks, recording shutouts against Wheeling Jesuit and Notre Dame College in Mountain East Conference action.

Stout, a senior from St. Mary's, W.Va., earns Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week honors after another complete game shutout in game one of Fairmont's series against Notre Dame College on Saturday. This week, he allowed just three hits in seven innings and struck out eight with no walks on his way to the win for the Falcons. Stout, the 2018 MEC Pitcher of the Year, has not allowed a run since March 29 (19 consecutive innings). The senior also has a team-high 61 strikeouts this season and has allowed just 12 earned runs on the year. The senior is 6-1 and has picked up wins in five-straight starts for the Falcons.

Fairmont State will return to action on Wednesday evening against Alderson Broaddus in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Bridgeport Recreation Complex. Stout's next scheduled start is during this weekend's MEC series against Urbana. The programs will play a four-game series with two games on Friday and two games on Saturday.
