FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Former Fairmont State guard Steve Custis has signed a contract to continue his basketball career with the Dornbirn Lions of the Austrian Basketball League.
Custis, a Frederick, Md., native, scored nearly 1,700 points during his career and established a school record 192 steals. He earned WVIAC honors in each of his four seasons with the Falcons, and last year was a second team All-WVIAC and All-Atlantic Region honoree after averaging 21.8 points per game.
Custis joins Thad McFadden, another recent Fairmont State alum, in the professional ranks overseas. McFadden was named Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and Import Player of the Year in the Czech Republic Basketball League by EuroBasket and recently signed with the New Yorker Phantoms in Germany.
