Custis Named 2nd Team All-Region

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State guard Steve Custis has been named to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region second team.

Custis led the WVIAC and ranks sixth nationally in scoring at 21.8 points per game. A second team All-WVIAC selection, Custis scored in double figures in all but one game this season and had 20 points or more in 16 games.

Shaw senior guard Malik Alvin has been selected as the Daktronics NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Player of the Year. Alvin, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year, averaged 20 points and 3.6 assists while leading the seventh-ranked Bears to 25-3 record and a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Alvin is joined on the first team by Alex Falk (West Liberty), Raymont McElroy (West Virginia Wesleyan), P.J. Reyes (Charleston) and Ashton Smith (Indiana). All players have led their team to the NCAA postseason.

The second team consists of Custis, Steve Catich (Wheeling Jesuit), Dontahe Jordan (Bloomsburg), Chad Moore (Shepherd) and Trevin Parks (Johnson C. Smith).
