Falcons Claim Pair Of Victories

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State improved to 4-0 on the young season after claiming a pair of three-set victories over Notre Dame College and Edinboro on Saturday afternoon at the Falcon Fest Volleyball Tournament at Joe Retton Arena.

The Falcons got past Notre Dame College by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-18. FSU got 10 kills apiece from Amber Wilson and Leslie Giordan to lead the way for Fairmont State. Tabbie Bias distributed 43 assists and Tiff Smathers added 19 digs for FSU.

In the final game of the weekend, FSU downed Edinboro by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-14. Giordan paced FSU with 10 kills, while Bri Swann added eight and Wilson notched five. Bias directed the offense with 31 assists and Smathers was excellent defensively with 19 digs in the match. Freshman Erin Harwood added 11 digs and Swann contributed 10 in the victory.

Fairmont State will be back in action next week for another full slate of action at the Clarion Volleyball Tournament where the Falcons will take on American International, Slippery Rock and Clarion.
