FSU Edges WVWC, 5-4

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State edged West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-4, in a non-conference match on Monday afternoon at the FSU Tennis Courts.

Fairmont State slipped behind after losing two of the three doubles matches. The team of Taylor Nichols and Caitlyn Crutchfield managed a 9-7 win in No. 2 doubles.

The Falcons rebounded, though, with wins in four of the six singles matches. Goldie Preston won in straight sets in No. 1 singles, and Nichols remained unbeaten in singles with a win in No. 2 singles. Erin McKown won a tightly contested match in No. 4 singles, 7-5, 7-5, and after losing the first set 7-5, Kari Sims bounced back without dropping a game in the next two sets to secure the FSU victory.
