Falcons Pick Up Two Wins

URBANA, Ohio -- Fairmont State picked up wins over Urbana and Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons needed four sets to dispatch of the Knights and went the distance against defeating the Tigers in five sets.

The non-conference victories improved FSU's record to 13-5 on the year.

Against Urbana, FSU won in four sets 25-20, 24-26, 25-16 and 25-22. Amber Wilson was dominant for FSU with 20 kills and just three errors in the match. Bri Swann and Kaitlyn Witsaman were equally impressive with 15 kills apiece, and Leslie Giordan added 10 for the Falcons. Freshman Jess Margo directed the offense with 50 assists and Tiff Smathers recorded 23 digs.

Against Wittenberg, FSU won by scores of 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 25-15 and 16-14. Swann hammered home 21 kills to lead the way for the Falcons, and Wilson added 18 in the win. Witsaman added 16 kills and Giordan contributed 13. Margo had 62 assists and Smathers had 16 digs.
