GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Fairmont State men's and women's cross country teams had one final tune-up at the Gettysburgh Invitational before next week's WVIAC Championships.
The FSU women's team finished in 22nd place with 605 points, while the Falcon men came in 27th place with a score of 788.
Alana Coen was the top finisher for the women in the 6k race taking 103rd place with a time of 25:13. Laura Horning was the next finisher in 146th place (25:54), narrowly edging teammate Marie Friend who took 147th with the same time. Lacee Fulton finished in 185th (26:32), Macy Houck was 220th (27:07), Hailey Baird was 282nd (28:41) and Lori Horning was 293rd (29:02). Ashley Hamrick (29:11), Misty Holliday (29:17) and Caycee Guthrie (29:47) raced but did not count toward the team's score.
Sophia Stone of Mary Baldwin won the race with a time of 21:48. The Shippensburg women won the race with 92 points, followed by Gettysburg (118) and Bucknell (127).
Scott Treadway led the FSU men in the 8k race with a 115th-place finish in a time of 27:53. Next was Lucas Gardner in 221st with a time of 29:20, followed by Austin McFee in 276th place (30:36), Robert Alderman in 291st (30:52), Logan Moore in 334th (32:35) and Kenny Burnley in 364th (34:34).
Matt Gillette of Shippensburg won the men's race with a time of 25:21. Lock Haven won the team title with a score of 50, followed by Bucknell (79) and Shippensburg (122).
