WHEELING, W.Va. – Wheeling Jesuit defeated Fairmont State,
3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-13) on Wednesday evening in Wheeling. It marks the first
time this season the Falcons failed to win at least one set in a match.
The Cardinals ended Fairmont State’s 11-game winning streak
as the Falcons fall to 17-6 overall and 5-1 in the WVIAC. The Cardinals remained
unbeaten in the conference at 10-0 and improve to 23-2 overall.
The Falcons were led by Amber Wilson with seven kills and
six block assists in the match. Bri Swann led the team with seven digs and
added five kills for the Falcons. Erin Harwood chipped in five kills and six
digs for FSU. Jess Margo led the way with 26 assists.
Wheeling Jesuit was led by Abby Wietrzykowski and Allissa
Ware with 11 kills each. Ware added nine digs for the Cardinal. Jenna Pew (15)
and Madison Strall (14) both had double-digit assists for WJU. Makenzie Ripley
led the Cardinal with 13 digs.
The Falcons will look to rebound when they host WV State on
Friday evening at Joe Retton Arena. The match is set for 7 p.m.
