HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Fairmont State wrapped up competition at the 2012 West Virginia State Games on Saturday in Huntington. The women came in fourth place with a score of 337 over the two-day event. The men placed fifth with a score of 378.
West Virginia University came out on top with a 905 on the women's side and 910 on the men's side.
Kathryn Saurborn led the women's team with a first place finish in the 50 freestyle and second place finishes in both the 100 freestyle and butterfly events. Khrysten Stolins took an eighth place finish in the 200 backstroke on the women's side.
Pasko Komadina took home a first place finish on the men's side in the 500 freestyle. He also took second place finishes in 200 freestyle and butterfly events. Luka Dilas added a fifth place finish in the 200 free and sixth place finish in the 50 free.
David Dent took sixth place in the 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 50 free. Josh Barton finished right behind Dent in the 100 breaststroke with a seventh place finish. Emir Atilgan also took a seventh place finish in the 200 free and eighth in the 500 free for the men.
The men also had an impressive showing in the team relays, placing second in both the 400 and 800 yard freestyle events and third in the 200 yard freestyle. The men also brought home a third place fininish in the 200 yard medley.
Both swim teams will take part in the Odds vs. Evens homecoming event at the Falcons Center Pool on the campus of Fairmont State University on Saturday, October 20.
