DANIELS, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State golf team placed seventh at the 2012 WVIAC Championship at the Glade Springs Resort. The Falcons shot a 318 during first round action and 321 on the second day. On the final day, FSU shot a 325 and finished tied for seventh with the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
Concord came in first after shooting a three-day score of 898. The Mountain Lions finished 16 strokes ahead of Charleston who came in second place.
The Falcons were led by Justin Stambaugh who shot a three-day score of 234, which was good enough to finish tied for 14th. Stambaugh was tied for sixth going into the final day of action, but managed just an 84 during his final round. Tyler Hartzell finished with a 239 and placed 28th.
Jess Ferrell shot a three-day best 77 on the final day and moved up nine spots to finish tied for 29th in the tournament. Jake Helmick finished with a 251 and placed 42nd. Greg Loss added a 269 for the Falcons and finished tied for 56th at the end of the final day.
