PHILIPPI,W.Va. -- Alderson-Broaddus picked up a five-set victory over Fairmont State on Friday evening in Phillipi. FSU took set one, 25-18. A-B rolled in set two by the score of 25-9. The Falcons took a 2-1 advantage after a 25-22 victory in set three.
In the fourth set with the score tied 14-14, A-B took 11 of the final 14 points to tie the match at 2-2. The Battlers then took seven of the final ten points in the final set to close out the victory.
Fairmont State falls to 18-7 overall and 6-2 in the WVIAC. The Battlers improve to 15-14 overall and 8-1 in the conference.
The Falcons were led by Amber Wilson with 17 kills in the match. Leslie Giordon added 11 kills and two block assists. Kaitlyn Witsaman and Bri Swann led the Falcons with 10 digs each. Jessica Margo led the way with 43 assists.
A-B was led by Ashley MacDonald with 13 kills and six digs on the evening. Caitlin Cain added a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Victoria Morgan chipped in 10 kills and five block assists. Kayla Peterson had a team-high 43 assists and 11 digs. The Battlers held a 12-3 advantage in blocks for the match.
The Falcons will return to action on Monday evening at Joe Retton Arena when they host Glenville State at 7 p.m.
