Tara (Black) Campbell was a standout for the Fairmont State softball team. Following her career, Black ranked fifth in batting average, sixth in on-base percentage and second in doubles, hits and runs scored. Earned First Team All-WVIAC and Academic All-District honors while being named the Colebank Award recipient in 2006.
During her senior season, Black batted .404 with nine home runs, 46 RBI, 61 hits, 37 runs and 15 doubles. In her career, she played 171 games as a second baseman and catcher and totaled 14 home runs, 115 runs, 46 doubles and slugging percentage of .532
Black was also named WVIAC All-Tournament Team and two-time Second Team All-WVIAC. She was also a three-time WVIAC Scholar-Athlete as she graduated with a 3.7 GPA as an education major.
