Keil Named D2Football.com National Player of the Week

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Following his record-setting performance in Fairmont State's victory over Glenville State last Saturday, senior placekicker Sam Keil garnered National Special Teams Player of the Week honors from D2Football.com.

In a week that featured multiple standout performances on special teams, Keil stood out the most. He accounted for all 18 points in an 18-15 win over Glenville State.  Keil was 6-of-7 on field goal attempts, connecting from 21, 25, 34, 34, 37, and 46 yards. His 46-yard field goal was a career long.

Keil, a senior from Carmichael, Calif., also tied an NCAA Division II and Mountain East Conference record with six field goals in the game. The six field goals also broke the school's previous record of four that was set back in 2000 by Nathan White.

With 15 made field goals so far this season, Keil is currently tied for first at FSU in a single season - and has hit three decisive field goals to win games for the Falcons this season. The senior also ranks third in school history with 24 field goals in his two seasons with the Falcons.
