BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State's Majester Abdul-Jalil and West Virginia Wesleyan's Arthur Assfeld each have been tabbed Mountain East Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Fairmont's Zsofi Bevardi is the Women's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced today.

Bevardi, a freshman from Dombovar, Hungary, broke a nineteen-year-old school record in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:21.34 at the Magnus Cup Invitational at Cleveland State University. Bevardi additionally broke the school record in the 1000-yard freestyle in the initial distance of the race by taking out the first 1000 yards in a time of 10:29.51.

Abdul-Jalil, a sophomore from Charleston, W.Va., broke his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke by over a second at the Magnus Cup Invitational at Cleveland State University at 55.81. Abdul-Jalil added a time of 2:03.92 in the 200-yard breaststroke. In his third individual event, Abdul-Jalil finished the 200-yard individual medley in 1:58.61.

Assfeld, a junior from Toul, France, won four individual events at the  Corbiere-Merion Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan and took home a victory in a relay. His victories and times were in the 100-yard butterfly (51.02), 100-yard backstroke (51.89), 100-yard Freestyle (46.14), 50-yard Freestyle (21.06) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.41).
