FROSTBURG, Md. -- Fairmont State took first-place finishes in 17 of 22 events on Saturday afternoon during a tri-meet with Alderson Broaddus and host Frostburg State.

The Fairmont State women swam to a pair of dual victories on Saturday afternoon, outscoring Frostburg State by a 123-71 margin, and Alderson Broaddus by a lopsided 132-41 margin. The Fairmont State men were also victorious in both dual meets, defeating Frostburg State, 119-77, and dominating Alderson Broaddus by a 147-9 scoring advantage.

Following today's results, the Fairmont State women improved to 6-2 in dual meets this season, while the Falcon men improved to 4-3 in dual meets.

On the women's side, Fairmont State took first place in eight of 11 events, including victories in both relay events. During individual events,
Courtney Deem (200 free, 100 free) and
Emily Gersper (200 IM, 100 breast) paced the Falcons with a pair of wins, while
Becka Crandall was victorious in the 800 freestyle, and
Zsofi Bevardi was first to touch the wall in the 400 freestyle.

Frostburg picked up two first-place finishes on the women's side, while Alderson Broaddus added one.

During the men's events, Fairmont State earned first place finishes in nine of 11 events, including a win in the 200 medley relay to begin the meet. Individually, the Falcons were led by
Ricard Castan and
Kyle Carson, each with a pair of individual event victories on the afternoon. Castan was victorious in the 800 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Carson took the 200 IM and 400 freestyle events.

Four other individuals also picked up first-place finishes for the Falcons, including
Pedro Gaspar in the 200 freestyle,
Josep Castan in the 100 butterfly,
Tyler Virtue in the 100 freestyle, and
Majester Abdul-Jalil in the 100 breaststroke.

Frostburg State took first place in the two remaining men's events, earning wins in the 50 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.

Fairmont State will return home for senior day on Friday, Jan. 31 at the Feaster Center Pool. Start time is set for 5 p.m., with the five seniors being recognized prior to the dual meet against WVU Tech.
