Fairmont State Wrestling Sets 2023-24 Schedule

The Falcons will compete in four events in Joe Retton Arena this season.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State wrestling team and head coach Gennaro Bonaventura revealed its 2023-24 schedule on Monday (Oct. 16) afternoon. The Falcons are scheduled to compete in four events inside Joe Retton Arena in Fairmont this season.

The Falcons will host the Maroon vs. White Wrestle Off on Saturday, Oct. 28 inside Joe Retton Arena. The event will also feature a prospect camp. More information about the prospect camp can be found on the camp website or by contacting Coach Bonaventura.

Fairmont State begins the 2023-24 season on Nov. 1 at a tri-meet in Washington, Pa. versus Washington & Jefferson and Pitt-Bradford starting at 5 p.m. The Falcons will compete at the Glenville State Tournament on Nov. 4 starting at 10 a.m.

The Falcons will wrestle at Frostburg State on Nov. 8, marking the first time the Bobcats and Falcons have competed in wrestling. The match is also Fairmont State's Mountain East Conference opener. Fairmont State's first home regular season event will be on Nov. 19, when the Falcons will battle Garrett Community College, Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown in duals inside Joe Retton Arena.

The Falcons open December with a competitive quad meet at Lake Erie College and will face Lake Erie, Gannon and Mercyhurst on Dec. 2. Following the Lake Erie Open on Dec. 3, Fairmont State will compete in the Averett Cougar Duals on Dec. 9. The Falcons will wrap up 2023 with a dual at West Virginia University on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. inside the WVU Coliseum.

Fairmont State will begin 2024 with hosting the inagural Fairmont State Invitational on Jan. 6. The event will feature teams from DII, DIII, junior college and NAIA levels. Fairmont State resumes MEC competition on Jan. 10 with a dual versus Glenville State played at Parkersburg South High School. The Falcons will face Garrett Community College on Jan. 18 for a dual to be played at Southern Garrett High School. The Shippensburg Duals will be held on Jan. 20 in Shippensburg Pa. between American International College and Shippensburg. The MEC Wrestling Championships will be held at West Liberty on Jan. 27.

The final wrestling event of the season inside Joe Retton Arena will be on Feb. 4 when the Falcons will dual Saint Vincent and Garrett College. Fairmont State will battle West Liberty at West Liberty on Feb. 15. The NCAA DII Super Region I Championships will be held on March 2 in Kutztown, Pa. before the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be held from March 13-16 at Wichita, Kan.
