WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Fairmont State University wrestling team had impressive day on the mats at the W&J Invitational. They finished in fourth place out of 13 teams with two champions, one runner-up and one 4th place finisher.
The three wrestlers that advanced to the finals were Nate Pelesky (133), Colton Stoneking (141), and Jim Green (157). Pelesky had a dominant day going 4-0, winning all his matches by bonus points en route to the title.
Stoneking also went 4-0 on the day, winning three matches by bonus points and winning a back-and-forth battle, 11-6 in the finals to secure the title. Green came in as the four-seed and had an impressive run to the finals knocking off the number-one seed in the semifinals. Green settled for second place dropping his finals match 8-1.
The last medalist was Navid Ighani (174). Ighani won his first two matches to advance to the semifinals before dropping his next two matches to bring home a fourth-place finish.
Other Highlights on the day were Tyler Carson (285) getting his first career win, Luke Boram (133) collected his first college win as well and went 3-2 on the day winning all his matches by fall. Shane Hatfield (149) had a solid day as well going 4-2.
The wrestling team is back in action this Sunday, November 17 as they host a tri-meet with MEC Conference foe, Frostburg State and regional foe, Kutztown. Action is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Joe Retton Arena.
