FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University wrestling team hosted its open invitational for the second-straight year. The Falcons were able to finish with five wrestlers placing at their home tournament.
Colton Stoneking (141) started the day with bye before collecting two major decisions to reach the finals. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Stoneking had to medically default in the finals as he earned second place.
In the 133-weight class,
Nate Pelesky opened the event with a pin before picking up a major decision to advance to the semifinals. In the semis, Pelesky fell but bounced back in the third/fourth match with a pin late in the third period to claim third-overall.
The Falcons had a trio that earned fourth-place finishes for their respective weights:
Jim Green (157),
Austin Gibson (184) and
Tyler Wise (197).
Fairmont State returns to the mat on Friday, January 10 at Penn State Altoona. Start time for the match is 1:30 p.m.
