WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Fairmont State University wrestling team competed at the W&J Invitational hosted by Washington & Jefferson College. The Falcons finished fifth with 88.5 points.
Colton Stoneking took home first place in the 141-pound weight class, going a perfect 5-0. After a first round bye, Stoneking won his first bout by a technical fall, 19-4. In quarterfinals, Stoneking repeated his performance with another technical fall, 18-3. Stoneking then won by major decision, 16-4, to advance to the finals. In the championship match, he picked up a 9-6 decision to take home the individual title.
Other notable performers for Fairmont State were
Noah Hess (133) as he went 5-1 to earn fifth place. Three other Falcons earned sixth-place finishes as
Colsen Spragg (125),
James Simms (149) and
Cole Turner (174) each made podium appearances.
Fairmont State travels to Frostburg, Maryland on Sunday, November 9 for duals against Frostburg State and Shippensburg. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
