FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University wrestling team competed at the MEC Futures Tournament hosted in the Falcon Center on campus.

Hunter Elliott and
Noah Hess took home first place with
Austin High finishing second.
At 125, Elliott won his first match in the semifinals over Caiden Harbert (West Liberty) by a 7-3 decision. In the championship bout, Elliott defeated Brady Donovan (West Liberty) by a 3-2 decision.
Hess received an opening round bye before pinning Frostburg State's Zachary Alkhatib in the semifinals. In the first-place match, Hess won via tech fall over Bryce Nichols (Glenville State), 18-1.
High started his day in 157 as he won by fall over Samuel Giordano (Glenville State). In the semifinal, High won a 14-8 decision over Jacob Bowling (Glenville State). In the championship match, High was pinned by Glenville State's Moses Eads.

Justin Bishop finished third while teammate
Qasim Williams placed fourth.
Fairmont State will now prepare for the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships on Saturday, February 28 in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Start time is set for 10:00 a.m.
