Bryan Spitzer

Bryan Spitzer is entering his 19th year at Fairmont State University and fourth as Director for NCAA Compliance. In November 2021, Spitzer was elevated to Associate AD for Compliance/Game Day Management.

In his current role, Spitzer is responsible for all aspects of NCAA compliance for the university, including eligibility, certification, financial aid, National Letters of Intent, NCAA reports, academics, waivers, rules interpretations and legislation. Spitzer also assists with game day operations for all sports.
 
During his first five years at Fairmont State, Spitzer was a member of the Fighting Falcon baseball program as a four-year starting pitcher and after graduation, joined the baseball staff as pitching coach. The next 10 years, Spitzer worked in the Admissions and Recruitment Office for Fairmont State as a recruiter and Assistant Director of the office. He made the transition to the Athletics Department in 2018-19.
 
Spitzer received his bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State in 2009 in Business Administration. In the fall of 2014, Spitzer was named the 2014 Rick Snow Young Professional of the Year, which is a part of WVACRAO (West Virginia Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers). The award is given out to one employee per year in the state of WV.
 
Spitzer was a four-sport standout at Greenbrier West High School before moving on to play baseball at Fairmont State.
 
Active in the community, Spitzer still keeps his love for the game of baseball as the assistant baseball coach at East Fairmont High School. 
 
Spitzer and his wife Sierra (a former Fairmont State tennis player) reside in Fairmont.
