2026 Fairmont State Football Headshot

Randy Wilkins

Randy Wilkins enters his second season at Fairmont State as the Falcons’ Run Game Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach, bringing over two decades of collegiate coaching experience and a proven track record of developing high-level defensive talent.

Wilkins made an immediate impact in his first season with the Falcons, developing an All-Conference defensive lineman Nemo Roberts who led the conference in sacks.

Prior to Fairmont State, Wilkins served on the football staff at West Virginia University as a Senior Defensive Assistant, Pass Rush Specialist and Game Manager. During his tenure with the Mountaineers, he played an integral role in defensive preparation and operations, organizing and implementing game analysis, evaluating opponents, assisting in the development of defensive game plans and working closely with the coaching staff on game-day strategy.

His responsibilities at WVU extended throughout the program. Wilkins oversaw defensive graduate assistants and student coaches, managed offseason accountability teams, served as a primary contact for data-analysis partners and Big 12 officials, supported recruiting operations and communications, and helped administer the defensive component of the program’s annual high school coaches clinic.

Before joining WVU, Wilkins spent 12 seasons as the Defensive Line Coach and Academic Coordinator at Midwestern State. During his tenure, the Mustangs captured four Lone Star Conference championships and an LSC playoff title, made five NCAA Division II playoff appearances and earned a trip to the Kanza Bowl.

Wilkins previously coached the defensive line at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2007–10 after beginning his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Troy.

Across his tenures at Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce, Wilkins coached two All-Americans, three conference Defensive Linemen of the Year and more than 25 All-Conference performers.

A Jacksonville, Florida, native, Wilkins played collegiately at Florida State under legendary Hall of Fame head coach Bobby Bowden and longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews. Originally joining the Seminoles as a walk-on, Wilkins worked his way into the defensive line rotation and earned a scholarship prior to his junior season.

As a defensive end and nose guard, Wilkins became a three-year letterwinner and contributed on special teams. He was a member of five Florida State bowl teams, four of which played for a national championship, and was part of the Seminoles’ 1999 BCS National Championship team.

Wilkins graduated from Florida State in 2000 with a double major in Business Management and Marketing. He earned his master’s degree in Sport and Fitness Management from Troy in 2007.

Wilkins and his wife, Jessica, have a son, Christian.
