WISE, Va. -- The University of Virginia at Wise completed its come-back victory over Fairmont State when Trent Martin hit an 18-yard field goal attempt as time expired on Saturday at Carl Smith Stadium in Wise. The Falcons led or the game was tied the entire afternoon until Martin's game-winning kick.
With the loss, the season comes to an end with a 3-7 record for the Falcons. Virginia-Wise improved to 2-9 overall and 2-8 in the league.
Daniel Monroe scored two first half touchdowns to help the Falcons take a 14-7 lead into the locker room at the break. Monroe's first score came at the 12:18 mark of the opening quarter from six-yards out. Terrence Younger put the Cavs on the board mid-way through the first with a 22-yard touchdown reception from Jeremy Eubank. Monroe broke the tie a few minutes before the half with a one-yard score.
A 19-yard connection from Eubank to Younger tied the game once again at the 10:59 mark of the third quarter. However, the second tie of the game was short-lived after
Cody Stevenson capped a 5-play, 32-yard drive with a 16-yard strike to
Fabian Guerra for the touchdown. The score was set up by an interception by
Marcus Porter, his second of the afternoon.
Younger caught his third touchdown of the afternoon for UVa-Wise on a 13-yard completion at the 2:43 mark of the fourth quarter to knot the score for the third time.
After the Falcons were forced to punt, the Cavs drove 10-plays, 72-yards over the final 1:40 of the game to allow Martin to nail the game-winning field goal as time expired.
Stevenson made his second quality start of the season for the Falcons by completing 20-of-32 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown on the afternoon. Monroe wrapped up his FSU career with 18 carries for 85 yards and a pair of first half touchdowns. Guerra caught a team-high seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons.
Eubank completed 20-of-34 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cavalier offense. Eubanks also threw a pair of interceptions. Younger caught all three of Eubank's touchdowns and tallied nine catches for 142 yards in the victory.

Jephte Leveille recorded 12 total tackles (11 solo) and four for a loss for the Falcons.
Marcus Porter also tallied six tackles and picked off a pair of passes for the Falcon defensive unit.
Chris Flood has a team-high 12 tackles for UVa-Wise. The Cavalier defense tallied 12 tackles for loss in the game.
