Quick Start Lifts FSU Past Concord, 74-55

LOGAN, W.Va. – Emily Lohr and Emily Puskarich each scored 19 points in the opening half to help Fairmont State open up a 22-point halftime advantage, en route to a 74-55 victory on Saturday afternoon at Willie Akers Arena.

The win improves Fairmont State's record to 12-2 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain East Conference.

The Falcons went 8-of-15 from behind the arc and held a 30-15 advantage on the glass to help break open a close game early in the first half. Concord shot just 37 percent in the first half and was led by Rachel Artrip with 10.

To open the second half, Fairmont State went on a 9-2 spurt, led by six points from Hailey Garrett to open up its largest lead of the game at 62-33. Concord was able to trim the final margin to 17 late in the game before FSU wrapped up the 74-55 victory.

The Falcons were led by Lohr with 22 points and five rebounds, sinking 5-of-6 three-point attempts. Puskarich finished the game with 21 points after sinking five three-point attempts and Garrett had a solid night in the paint with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Hallie Gunnoe also filled the stat sheet with 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Concord (3-8, 3-5 MEC) was led by Artrip with 16 points and six rebounds. Melea Smith (11) and Alley Odell (10) also reached double figures for the Mountain Lions. Jacqueline Kestner led Concord with eight boards.

FSU will now head to Virginia-Wise for a 5:30 p.m. tip against the Cavaliers on Monday evening.
