FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State picked up its fourth-straight victory with a 75-62 win over Notre Dame College on Monday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
After a first half that featured 11 lead changes and a tie, Fairmont State opened the second half on a 7-2 spurt and quickly grabbed a 44-34 advantage with 18:24 to play. Over the next six minutes FSU maintained a lead between 7-and-11 points before a game-changing 21-8 run that pushed Fairmont's lead to its largest of the evening at 75-56 with just 3:35 remaining.
Emily Lohr went 3-of-3 from behind the arc and scored 11 points to lead FSU in the second half.
Hallie Gunnoe also chipped in nine points and
Hailey Garrett had eight to help FSU pull away from NDC in the second half.
Fairmont State shot 52.6 (30-of-57) percent from the floor and passed out 22 assists on 30 made field goals in the victory. Notre Dame shot 41 percent from the field and just 29 percent from three. FSU also tied a season-low with just 12 turnovers in the victory.
Notre Dame College turned the ball over 16 times and Fairmont State made them pay at the opposite end with 14 points off turnovers. NDC held a slim 33-31 advantage on the glass and out-scored FSU in the paint, 26-24.
Lohr and Gunnoe each scored 19 points to lead Fairmont State in the victory. Lohr also finished the game with a team-high eight boards, three steals and passed out four assists to go with her 19 points. Garrett was the third FSU player to reach double figures with 12 points after going 5-of-7 from the field.
Jessica Garcia, Lauren Langenderfer and Celine Mangan each scored 12 points for NDC in the loss. Kelsey Miller also reached double figures with 10 points and Molly Ritz chipped in nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
FSU will be off until Thursday evening when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
