FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Concord's Micharae Thompson scored on a header in the 106
th minute to give Concord a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Field. Thompson's goal was set up off a corner kick from Sarah Akers.
Fairmont State had a pair of high percentage scoring opportunities in the 91
st and 93
rd minutes of the first overtime but they were both turned away and
Shawna Graham made a save in the 99
th minute that pushed the game into the second overtime period.
Concord outshot the Falcons 30-9 on the afternoon, including a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. CU also had four corner kicks in the second half and overtime compared to just one in the opening half for FSU.
Graham had a great performance in the FSU net, stopping 11 shots and holding a shutout for over 100 minutes of action.
Courtney Webb recorded three shots, including two on goal to lead the FSU defense.
Erica Uselton also chipped in four shots, but just one on goal for the Falcons. Colleen Newsome also had a high-percentage shot on goal in the first overtime period.
The Falcons will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Urbana for a 1 p.m. match with the Blue Knights.
