FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State dropped its seventh one-goal loss of the season on Tuesday evening at Duvall-Rosier Field, falling to the University of Charleston, 2-1.
A goal by Charleston's Isabella Jaffin that was set up by a corner kick from Alice Broadbent at the 42:21 mark proved to be the difference in the contest. The assists on the winning goal was Broadbent's second of the day.
UC got on the board first at the 28:20 mark when Courtney Underwood drove down the center of the field and scored-off a perfectly placed pass from Broadbent for the score. Just 35 seconds later,
Erica Uselton tied the game for the Falcons when
Brittany Cameron placed a pass right in front of the UC net for Uselton to knock in.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Falcons, 18-12, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal in the game. Jaffin led the Golden Eagles with six shots in the victory while Uselton led the Falcons with four shots.
The Falcons will travel to Shepherd on Friday afternoon for a 2:30 p.m. road match with the Rams.
