WHEELING, W.Va. -- Fairmont State fell short against nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit, 3-1, in a hard-fought battle to decide the 2015 Mountain East Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday evening at the McDonough Center.
 
The Falcons are now 25-8 on the season and will wait until Monday at 7:30 p.m. when the NCAA announces the at-large bids to the Division II Volleyball Regional Championships. WJU earned the automatic bid for the Mountain East and are now 33-4 on the season.
 
Mackenzie Harrison continued her strong tournament by recorded 13 kills and just two errors in the match. Erin Harwood also recorded 13 kills to go along with 11 digs to record a double-double for the Falcons. Kaitlyn Witsaman added 11 kills and Courtney Kress had a team-best .348 attacking percentage and put down 10 kills.
 
Jessica Furda recorded a double-double as the setter for the Falcons, racking up 42 assists and 14 digs. Megan Clerico also wrapped up her strong tournament with 23 digs and six assists.
 
Harrison and Clerico both earned MEC All-Tournament Team honors for the Falcons.
 
Wheeling Jesuit hit .349 in the win, including hitting percentages of over .420 in both the first and fourth sets. FSU hit .227 in the match. WJU also held a 9-4 advantage in blocks and 7-4 margin in aces.
 
Kayce Krucki led the Cardinals with 14 kills and 15 digs to help Wheeling claim the championship. Emma Schleucher (12), Sydney Obringer (11) and Haley Kindall (10) also reached double figures. Jessica Thobe recorded 18 digs from her libero position and Andrea Thobe recorded a double-double with 52 assists and 11 digs.
