BOWIE, Md. -- Fairmont State held-off a late rally by Bowie State to pick up a 98-91 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon at the A.C. Jordan Center in Bowie.
Jamel Morris scored a team-high 18 points in the victory, including a trio of threes in the overtime period to help close out the huge in-region victory for the Falcons.

With FSU leading by 14 at the 5:48 mark, Bowie State went on a game-changing 12-0 run in less than five minute of action to cut the lead to just one field goal.

Entering the final minute of the game,
Shammgod Wells gave the Falcons some breathing room by hitting a three with :46 seconds remaining. Jordan Goodman drew the foul on the opposite end and knocked-down a pair of free throws on the next BSU possession and the FSU lead was back to three with just over a half-minute remaining.

After a Fairmont State turnover of the next possession, Michael Briscoe drew another foul and knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the margin to just one. On the end-bounds pass, the Bulldogs had everyone defended and FSU called timeout, but the Falcons were out of timeouts and an administrative technical was issued. Justin Beck tied the game by knocking down the free throw.

On the final possession of regulation, Morris got a great look on a drive to the basket but the ball rolled out and the game went to overtime.

The Falcons started fast in overtime as Morris drilled a pair of threes on the first two FSU possessions. However, a dunk by Enuoma Ebinum at the 1:15 mark of the overtime period cut the FSU lead back to just three.

From that point, the Falcons closed out the game with eight of the final 10 points in the closing minute. Morris started the run with yet another three and
Thomas Wimbush completed a three-point play on the following FSU possession after finishing strong at the rim to provide key points in the Falcon victory.

Morris went 5-of-9 from three and added four assists to lead the Falcons in the victory.
Caleb Davis came off the bench to add a double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists after going 6-of-9 from the field.
Jason Jolly and
Matt Bingaya also scored 14 points apiece to give the Falcons four double-figure scorers.

The Falcons finished the game shooting 44.9 percent from the field (35-of-78) and also knocked-down 15-of-38 three-pointers.

Bowie State shot 45.5 percent from the field in the loss, but made just 1-of-14 threes. The Bulldogs were deadly from the foul line, making 20-of-23 attempts. BSU did not miss a free-throw attempt until the 1:31 mark of the second half. Bowie also held a 54-36 advantage in the paint and scored 28 points off FSU turnovers.

Briscoe led the Bulldogs with a team-high 16 points and Justin Beck chipped in 13 points and six boards. Miles Jackson just missed a double-double with 12 points and eight boards. The Falcons limited Bowie's leading scorer, Jordan Goodman, to just 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting in the win.

FSU will return to action on Thursday evening when they host Wheeling Jesuit in a MEC showdown starting at 7:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Wheeling but has been moved to Fairmont's Joe Retton Arena because of the volleyball regional being held at WJU.
