FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State picked up a non-conference victory over Salem International, 63-46, on Tuesday evening at Joe Retton Arena.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 5-1 overall and Salem falls to 0-6 on the season.

The Falcons were led by
Makenzie White with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and seven steals in the win.
Amanda Ruffner chipped in 16 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-11 from the field and
Katie Nunan also reached double-figures with 11 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

The Falcons shot 38.6 percent from the field and knocked-down just 4-of-16 from behind the arc. The Falcons also held a slim advantage in turnovers (21-18) and had 16 assists on 22 made field goals.

Salem was limited to just 32.8 percent from the field (20-of-61) but held a slim 34-32 advantage in the paint.

Samantha Aiken led the Tigers with 12 points in the game while Toi Brown added 11 and Alexis Cooper chipped in 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and pulled down eight boards.

The Falcons will now return to conference play on Thursday evening when Wheeling Jesuit visits Joe Retton Arena at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night is a "White Out Game," as the FSU basketball programs encourage everyone to wear white to the game.
