SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd used a 27-5 run over a 10-minute stretch in the second half to help the Rams turn momentum and rally to an 82-75 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Butcher Center.
With the win, the Rams won a share of the 2014-15 Mountain East Conference Regular Season Championship with a record of 20-8 overall and 17-5 in the league. FSU finished the regular season with a 21-7 overall record and a 15-7 mark in the league.
The Falcons will be the fifth-seed in next week's MEC Tournament and will host an opening-round game against Urbana on Tuesday evening; tip is set for 7 p.m.
Emily Lohr led the Falcons with 24 points and seven rebounds while
Hailey Garrett chipped in a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards.
Hallie Gunnoe added 12 points and
Tess Zufall tallied 11 to finish in double figures.
Gabby Flinchum led the Rams on senior day with 21 points and six rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Rachel Johnson (17), Morgan Arden (12), Briana Vaden (11) and Cara Mason (10) also reach double figures for SU. Three players pulled down six rebounds for the Rams and Mason led the team with five assists.
After shooting just 42 percent in the first half, SU shot 53 percent in the second half to rally for the victory. Meanwhile, FSU shot 50 percent from the field in the opening half but struggled in the second half at just 37 percent. The Falcons also committed 21 turnovers compared to just 14 for the Rams.
