Falcons, 'Toppers Draw In MEC Action Sunday

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State women's soccer team wrapped up the home portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon by battling to a scoreless draw against West Liberty at Duvall-Rosier Field.
 
The Falcons, who honored seven seniors prior to the game, had three shots in the first overtime period but were unable to send the ball past the WLU goalkeeper. In the game, the Falcons were outshot 16-9, including a 5-2 margin in shots on goal. The Falcons held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
 
FSU had three players with double-figure shots, led by Courtney Webb with three shot attempts. Erica Uselton and Colleen Newsome also recorded two shots apiece for the Falcons.
 
FSU goalkeeper Shawna Graham, who shared time with senior Sarah Jacques on Saturday afternoon, recorded each of Fairmont State's five saves to help the Falcons keep the 'Toppers off the scoreboard.
 
The Falcons will wrap up the 2016 regular season next Saturday when they travel to Notre Dame College for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
