EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro closed out Fairmont State, 72-68, on Monday evening in Erie to wrap up the non-conference portion of the Falcons 2016-17 schedule.
With the game tie for the eighth time at the 1:18 mark of the fourth quarter, Edinboro went 6-for-6 from the free throw line and held FSU to just a single basket to wrap up the win.
Fairmont State, which led 13-0 at the 3:52 mark of the opening quarter, shot 52.4 percent from the field compared to just 32 percent for the victorious Fighting Scots.
Amanda Ruffner led the Falcons with 19 points and six rebounds, going 6-of-11 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
Deidra Combs also chipped in 18 points and
Emily Puskarich added 12.
Makenzie White also filled the stat sheet for the Falcons with nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
Edinboro held a commanding 46-to-35 advantage on the glass and forced the Lady Falcons into 21 turnovers in the win. Edinboro scored 22 points off turnovers compared to six for the Falcons.
Katie Fischer led Edinboro with 18 points and six rebounds in the victory. Jontay Walton (14) and Ciara Rosten (13) also reached double-figures for the 'Scots.
The Falcons will now take the rest of the week off for Christmas, before returning to prepare for UVa-Wise on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
