FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Chase Connor hit 13 three-pointers and
Shammgod Wells passed out 19 assists to help No. 7 Fairmont State roll over West Virginia State, 110-77, on Thursday night at Joe Retton Arena. Both performances set new Fairmont State and Mountain East Conference single-game records.

The Falcons are now 22-3 overall and 16-3 in the Mountain East Conference. FSU improved to 11-1 at home this season.

Connor finished the game with a career-high 40 points, shooting 13-of-22 from three and also adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Trevor Andrews-Evans just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, going 5-of-7 from the field.
Taiwo Badmus also came off the bench and reached double-figures, scoring 10 points in just five minutes of action.

Connor broke the school record that was previously shared by
Jamel Morris and Dan Bruner. Morris drained 11 threes in last Saturday's Notre Dame game and Dan Bruner had 11 threes against Salem back in 2010.

Wells scored just four points but did his damage by dishing-out 19 assists to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Warren Doles previous held the single-game assists mark, dishing out 18.

Connor's 13 threes and Wells' 19 assists are also NCAA Division II single-game highs this season.

West Virginia State outshot Fairmont State 46.6-44.2 in the game but the Falcons drained 20 three-pointers on 46 attempts. The Falcons also had 29 assists on 38 made field goals.

On the defensive end, FSU pressured the 'Jackets into 20 turnovers, scoring 36 points on the offensive end. The Falcons also held a sizable 48-37 advantage on the glass, including 20 offensive rebounds.

WV State (6-18, 4-15 MEC) was led by Markee Mazyck with 28 points and nine rebounds, shooting 10-of-17 from the field. Tyrie Elliott (18) and Tyler Thompson (12) also reached double-figures for the Yellow Jackets.

FSU will host the University of Charleston on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside Joe Retton Arena.
