Rio Update: Baker, Team USA Split on Day 1

After falling in the final seconds of the game this afternoon against Argentina (17-14), Perry Baker and his Team USA Rugby Sevens teammates rebounded in their second game of the day by shutting-out Brazil, 26-0.
 
The win gives the United States a 1-1 record heading into tomorrow afternoon's matchup with Fiji. USA and Fiji will begin their Pool A matchup at 12:30 p.m. live from Deodoro Stadium in Rio. Fiji went 2-0 on the opening day of competition in Rio, defeating Brazil (40-12) and Argentina (21-14) in Pool A action.
 
This afternoon after falling behind 12-0 in the opening half against Argintina, the United States scored 14 unanswered points, led by five points from Danny Barrett and two conversions by Madison Hughes.
 
In the closing seconds of the second half, however, Argentina's Matias Moroni gave his team an opening match win in the opening game of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
 
In the second game of the day, the United States blanked Brazil, 26-0. Carlin Isles, Folau Niua, Maka Unufe and Nate Ebner each scored a try to record five points each for the United States. Hughes added six more points on 3-of-4 conversion attempts against Brazil.
