GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Glenville State ran away with a 99-70 Mountain East Conference victory over Fairmont State on Wednesday evening at the Waco Center.
Glenville State (5-1, 3-0 MEC) rebounded from a slow start and put on an impressive offensive performance in the victory. The Pioneers shot 40 percent from the field after firing 95 shots (38-95) in the win, including 41 from behind the arc (9-41).
After jumping out to an early 11-3 advantage, FSU struggled from the field making just 24-of-67 field goals attempts (35.8%) – including just 5-of-16 from three (31.3%). Fairmont also turned the ball over 22 times, compared to just 10 for Glenville State.
Fairmont State (3-3, 0-3 MEC) got a team-high 23 points and four assists from Sierra Kotchman.
Kelli Jo Harrison recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Brooke Kurucz and
Rachel Laskody each chipped in eight points.
Glenville State had a balanced offensive attack, led by Paris McLeod with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Courtney Davis also chipped in a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Abby Stoller added 12 points to go with five boards. Erika Toney also finished just shy of a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
GSC held a 61-51 advantage on the glass, including 27 offensive rebounds in the win.
Fairmont State will now return home for a 2 p.m. tip against West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in Mountain East Conference action.
