ATLANTA, Ga. – After sweeping Salem International in a doubleheader on Saturday evening, the Fairmont State baseball team wrapped up a 4-0 weekend in Atlanta on Sunday with a 13-7 win over Clark Atlanta.
The Falcons jumped out to a 9-1 lead following the top of the second inning and never looked back in the win. FSU scored seven runs in the second inning and totaled 13 runs on 14 hits in the win to improve to 4-4 on the season.
Tyler Hill led the Falcons at the plate by going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
Austin Norman also went 2-for-3 in the win with an RBI. Fairmont's cleanup hitter was walked three times in the game.
Johnny Kesling also chipped in two runs scored and a pair of RBI, batting 2-for-5 for the Falcons.
Dorian Hetzel and
Tyler Krantz also recorded a pair of hits for FSU in Sunday's win. Krantz's performance followed up a two home run performance against Salem on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Johnston picked up the win for FSU, fanning six batters and allowing just one earned run in two and two-thirds innings of work.
Tyler Holt recorded the saves for FSU, striking out five in more than three innings of work.
The Falcons will now prepare for a three-game series with Lock Haven next weekend in Beckley. Game one of the series is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
