Fairmont State Falls To No. 18 Glenville State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State dropped a 90-60 final score against No. 18-ranked Glenville State on Wednesday evening inside Joe Retton Arena. Glenville State drained 14 three-pointers and held a commanding 56-39 advantage on the glass in the victory.
 
With the win, GSC completes the season sweep of Fairmont State and improves to 16-1 overall and 11-0 in league play. FSU falls to 7-9 overall and 3-8 in league play.
 
Sierra Kotchman recorded her 10th 20-point scoring performance of the season against the Pioneers, finishing the evening with 23 points and five rebounds on 7-of-10 from the field. Kotchman was also 3-of-3 from behind the arc and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Brooke Kurucz also reached double figures for the Falcons with 12 points and six rebounds. Kelli Jo Harrison led the Falcons on the glass with 15 rebounds to go with four points.
 
Both teams shot just 35 percent from the field, but the Pioneers pulled down 26 offensive rebounds and scored 21 second-chance points, compared to just three for the Falcons. GSC also forced the Falcons into 28 turnovers in the game.
 
Paris McLeod led the Pioneers with 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. GSC also got 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists from Bhrea Griffin, 12 points from Emily Stoller and 11 points and eight rebounds from Erika Toney. Glenville tallied 18 assists on 30 made baskets.
 
Glenville State fired 84 shots in the win, including 47 three-point field goal attempts.
 
The Falcons will remain at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. for a Mountain East Conference matchup with Shepherd.
