UC Tops Fairmont State In 2OT

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Charleston's goal in the 103rd minute lifted the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Fairmont State on Sunday afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Field.
 
Charleston's Kassandra Demps broke free down the center of the field after receiving a pass from Roberta Pomi to give Charleston the come-from behind victory.
 
Fairmont State (6-3-2, 4-2-1 MEC) got on the board first just under eight minutes into the game when Abigail Johnson got the rebound follow her own shot attempt and put in an unassisted goal at the 7:51 mark. The goal was her team-leading seventh of the year.
 
Charleston (6-6, 5-2 MEC) evened the score in the 69th minute when Demps found Keira Hill running down the center of the field for her sixth goal of the season.
 
UC held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. However, Fairmont State took 20 shot attempts and spent a majority of the game in the offensive end.
 
Fairmont State will return to action with a MEC match with Concord on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
