BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State and West Virginia State split a Mountain East Conference doubleheader on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. FSU opened the doubleheader with a 3-1 win in game one, before the Yellow Jackets blanked the Falcons by a 4-0 score in game two.

Following the split, Fairmont State moves to 8-11 overall and 2-4 in MEC play. WVSU goes to 11-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.
 
The Falcons scored all three of their runs in game one on sacrifice flies, starting with Tyler Hill in the first inning on a high and deep ball to center field that allowed Austin Norman and Ben Myers to score.
 
West Virginia State's Chris Jordan hit an RBI single in the top of the third inning to close the Fairmont State advantage to 2-1.
 
Hill closed out the scoring in the game in the bottom of the third on his second sac fly of the day, this time scoring Norman from third.
 
Fairmont State's Michael Stout improve to 4-1 on the year after striking out 10 batters and allowing just four hits and a single run in a complete game victory in game one.

West Virginia State's Kenneth Daniels (1-1) tossed a complete game shutout in game two, allowing just four hits and striking out five batters in the win.
 
Fairmont State will return to action on Monday morning with an 11 a.m. doubleheader against the University of Charleston at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
