AVON, Ohio -- Fairmont State plated 16 runs in a twinbill sweep of Notre Dame College, 8-1, 8-6, on Friday afternoon at Sprenger Field in Avon, Ohio.

With the doubleheader sweep, Fairmont State improves to 17-14 overall and 11-7 in Mountain East Conference play. The Falcons have now won seven-straight games.
Notre Dame falls to 9-24 overall and 7-11 in league play.

Game 1

In game one, Fairmont State ace
Michael Stout (7-1) recorded his third-consecutive shutout performance, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing just six hits in the victory. Stout struck out five and walked just one in the victory. The win is Stout's seventh in a row.

At the plate, the Falcons were led by
Jordan Sanders with two home runs and a double on 3-of-4 performance in the game. Sanders drove in three runs and scored three times in the victory.
Ben Myers,
Greg Yaksich and
Darrin Zombro also drove in runs for the Falcons as Fairmont State recorded eight runs on seven hits in the runaway victory.

The Falcons grabbed a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning, before Sanders added a two-run home run in the third and a solo homer in the fifth to break the game open.

Game 2

In game two, the Falcons jumped out to an eight-run lead after four innings of play and held off a late push by Notre Dame to take both ends of the twinbill.

Joe LaRocca got the scoring started for the Falcons by singling down the left field line to bring home Sanders for the first FSU run of the game.
Greg Yaksich added two more runs later in the inning on a single into left field that brought home LaRocca and Zombro.

With Fairmont State leading 3-0 in the top of the third, the Falcons got back-to-back home runs from
Austin Norman and
Tyler Hill to jump out to a commanding 5-0 advantage early in the game. Later in the inning, Zombro made it 6-0 on a double down the left field line that brought home
Tyler Skidmore from second following a stolen base.

Norman and Hill struck again just one inning later by hitting back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the fourth to push Fairmont's game two lead to 8-0.

NDC added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and four runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to two (8-6), but Fairmont State's
Roberto Velasquez and
Houston Morris limited Notre Dame to just a single hit in the final two and two-thirds innings to close out the win. Velasquez (2-1) earned the win on the hill for the Falcons, and Morris (S, 3) recorded his third save of the season in the seventh inning.

Norman went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted-in in game two, while Zombro added a 3-for-4 performance with a run scored and an RBI. LaRocca and Hill also chipped in two hits apiece for the Falcons.
