EASTON, Mass. -- Fairmont State racked up 476 yards of total offense and scored on 6-of-7 trips to the redzone in Friday's 34-19 season opening victory over Stonehill College at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass.

The Falcons used a balanced offensive attack with 313 yards through the air and 163 yards on the ground. Stonehill, who averaged 387.6 yards of total offense last season, was limited to just 297 yards by the stingy Fairmont State defense. The Skyhawks had just 79 yards through the air.

Takwan Crews-Naylor led the Fairmont State offense by completing 23-of-29 pass attempts for 313 yards and a pair of TD passes. Crews-Naylor picked apart the Skyhawk defense as three Fairmont State receivers finished with at least five receptions and 60 yards in the game.
Alquawn Vickers finished the evening with a team-high eight catches for 120 yards.
Javon Hayes added seven receptions for 89 yards and a score and
Shawn Harris hauled in five catches for 63 yards.

On the ground,
Khalik Hamlin carried the ball 23 times for 130 yards and a pair of scores.

Jerry Iweh led the Fairmont State defense with 10 total tackles, while
Stephen Turner and
Antonio Harris each chipped in nine.
Malachi McMillan forced the only turnover of the day for the Falcon defense with his interception during the first half of play.

Despite the lopsided Fairmont State advantage statistically, Stonehill cut Fairmont's game-high, 14-point (24-10) advantage at the 6:17 mark of the third quarter down to just five points with 8:04 remaining in the game. However, Fairmont State scored on back-to-back possessions to put the game away.
Shane Faett provided Fairmont's first answer with a 17-yard TD reception from Crews-Naylor, which was followed by a 20-yard field goal by redshirt freshman
Colin Harvath with under a minute to play.

James Lam completed 9-of-24 pass attempts for just 79 yards through the air for Stonehill. Andrew Jamiel, one of the nations top receivers a season ago (81 receptions, 1,035 yards, 13 TDs), was limited to just four catches for 43 yards against the Fairmont State secondary.

Despite his difficulties in the passing game, Lam rushed for a team-high 118 yards and 2 TDs. Mike Cordova also went over 100-yards rushing with 27 carries for 101 yards in the losing effort.

Stonehill had three double-digit tacklers in the game, led by Sean Cassidy with 11 total stops. Malik Wiggins and Ryan Shuts each chipped in 10. The Skyhawks recovered a pair of fumbles to win the turnover battle in the game.

Fairmont State will now return home for its home opener against Urbana University next Saturday at Duvall-Rosier Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
