Falcons Wrap Up 3-1 Weekend At West Chester Crossover

WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Fairmont State went 3-1 during the West Chester Volleyball Crossover on Friday and Saturday at Hollinger Field House in West Chester, Pa. With the 3-1 weekend, Fairmont State improves to 3-3 overall on the season.
 
Fairmont State began the weekend with a pair of 3-2 wins over Salem University and Goldey-Beacom on Friday, before sweeping Franklin Pierce on Saturday in the first match of the day. West Chester, the tournament's host, topped Fairmont State in the final match of the weekend by a 3-0 score.
 
Fairmont State 3, Salem 2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-8)
 
Rebecca Feeney paced the Falcons against Salem by recording 19 kills and seven blocks in the five-set victory. Bri Washburn also reached double-figures for the Falcons with 11 kills to go with three blocks around the net.
 
Lily Keber (29) and Kelsey Moeller (17) guided the Fairmont State offense by combining for 46 assists in the win. Julia DiPaola led the Falcons with 22 digs defensively.
 
Fairmont State held a sizable statistical advantage in total kills (58-43), aces (10-2) and blocks (9-6) in the match.
 
Fairmont State 3, Goldey-Beacom 2 (25-20, 12-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-12)
 
In Friday's second match, Feeney once again paced the Falcons with a team-high 11 kills and three blocks. Emma Mobley (10) and Yvonne Fullerton (8) also had a strong offensive performance against Goldey-Beacom.
 
Keber (15) and Cordle (10) once again paced the Fairmont State attack by each recording double-digit assists. DiPaola tallied a team-high 15 digs in the win. Fullerton (11) and Mobley (10) also reached double-figure digs.
 
Both teams recorded double-digit aces on the evening, with Goldey-Beacon holding a 16-12 advantage. The Lightning also held a 7-5 advantage in blocks.
 
Fairmont State 3, Franklin Pierce 0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-11)
 
Fairmont State opened the second day of the West Chester Crossover with a 3-0 sweep of Franklin Pierce University.
 
Mobley (11) and Emily Suppel (10) paced the Falcons by each reaching double-digit kills in the victory. Moeller and Keber once again paced the Falcon attack with 19 and 15 assists, respectively. Mobley also tallied a team-high 13 digs to record her third double-double of the season.
 
Fairmont State held a 12-2 advantage in aces and a 4-2 edge in blocks during the victory.
 
West Chester 3, Fairmont State 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-13)
 
West Chester ended Fairmont State's three-match winning streak by topping the Falcons 3-0 in the final match of the weekend at the WCU Volleyball Crossover.
 
West Chester ended the match with a 61-38 advantage in kills and also recorded a hitting percentage of .284 during the victory. Abbie Dischert (9 kills), Rachel Robb (8 kills) and Brianna Fisher (8 kills) paced the balanced offensive attack for the Golden Rams. Jillian Grammer tallied a match-high 40 assists in the WCU victory.
 
Mobley once again paced the Fairmont State attack with eight kills and seven digs against West Chester. Keber tallied a team-high 11 assists for the Falcons, and DiPaola totaled 10 digs in the setback.

Fairmont State will return to action next Friday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Slippery Rock University at the MEC/PSAC Crossover hosted by Wheeling Jesuit University.
