FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Urbana defeated Fairmont State in Mountain East Conference action on Friday evening at Joe Retton Arena to improve to 13-6 on the season (2-2 MEC).
The Blue Knights grabbed a 2-0 advantage with a 25-22 win in set one and 25-17 advantage in set two. Fairmont State led 24-21 in the third set before UU scored the final five points of the set to earn the victory.
With the loss, Fairmont State falls to 4-11 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Emily Suppel paced the Falcons on offense with 10 kills and a .444 attacking percentage in the setback.
Yvonne Fullerton also chipped in seven kills and
Julia DiPaola added five kills to go with 13 digs.
Megan Clerico recorded a team-high 15 digs on the evening.
Kelsey Moeller and Lily Keber each recorded 14 assists in the match.
Fairmont State held an 8-4 advantage in blocks.
Hannah Delor paced Urbana with a team-high 15 kills to go with 12 digs. Kaitlin Trace also reached double-figure kills in the win with 11. Courtney Niesen notched a team-best 19 digs and Deandra Atwood guided the Blue Knight attack with 23 assists.
The Falcons will remain at home for a 1 p.m. match against Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon.
