Falcons Use Big Plays To Down Bobcats on Senior Day, 42-13

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State opened up a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 42-13 rout of West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday night at Duvall-Rosier Field during senior night.
 
The Falcons had three scoring plays of 55 yards or more in the win, and each of their six touchdowns came from at least 16 yards out.
 
With the win over the Bobcats on Thursday night, the Falcons ended the year with a 5-5 record both overall and in the Mountain East Conference. The win clinched a fifth-consecutive non-losing season for the Falcons. The last time Fairmont had five straight non-losing seasons was under head coach Wally Hood from 1984-88.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan wrapped up the season with a 1-10 overall record, and a 1-9 mark in MEC play.
 
Fairmont State rolled up 486 total yards of offense in the victory, including 258 through the air and 228 on the ground.
 
Defensively, the Falcons limited Wesleyan to just 244 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers. Fairmont also tallied six sacks and allowed the Bobcats to convert on just 6-of-15 third-down conversions.
 
Individually, the Falcons had several standout performers in the win, including senior quarterback Takwan Crews-Naylor, who completed 14-of-18 pass attempts for 258 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Andre Hall was on the receiving end of five passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Hall hauled in TD passes of 16-, 16-, and 79-yards.
 
Javon Hayes also hauled in three passes for 82 yards and also scored on a 55-yard TD reception.
 
On the ground, the Falcons were led by Tyree Randolph with 22 carries for 164 yards and a pair of TDs. On Randolph's long TD of 68 yards late in the first, the sophomore broke free from a group of Wesleyan defenders and broke away down the middle of the field for his second score of the day. Randolph also scored the first touchdown of the day on a 20-yard run.
 
Khalik Hamlin also chipped in 46 yards on just six carries in the running game for the Falcons.
 
On defense, the Falcons got nine total tackles and an interception from Trevon Shorts during his final collegiate game. The Falcons also got six stops apiece from Jordan Schaeffer, D.J. Adediwura and Glenwood Williams.
 
Michael Porter and Desoto McKenzie also picked off passes for the Falcons. Chrinovic Mukulu recorded 2.5 sacks for the Fairmont State defense.
 
Fairmont State's defense, which ranked sixth in rushing yards allowed (73.2) entering the game, allowed 118 rushing yards against the Bobcats this evening, but 86 yards came on a long touchdown run by Lawrence Brown.
 
Brown led the Bobcats rushing attack with 92 yards on seven carries.
 
Wesleyan quarterback Jarrett Northrop completed 14-of-30 pass attempts for 126 yards and three picks in the loss. Brown was also the leading receiver for the Bobcats with four catches for 45 yards.
 
Ephraim Moore led the Bobcat defense with 12 total stops and a pass break-up.
