FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State used a 13-3 run in the fourth quarter to grab the lead and stretched its advantage to double-digits in an 84-73 victory over Wayne State on Wednesday afternoon at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena.

Sierra Kotchman recorded her second 30-point scoring performance of the season with 32 points and six assists in the victory.

The Falcons improves to 7-5 on the season with the victory. WSU dropped to 6-4 on the season.

With Wayne State leading 64-62 with 7:26 remaining in the fourth quarter, Fairmont State went on a game-changing 13-3 run over the next five minutes of play to open up a 75-67 lead with 2:40 remaining. Kotchman and
Kamrin Weimer hit 3-pointers during the stretch to key the run for the Falcons.

In the final 2:40 of play, Fairmont State added six more points at the free throw line and Weimer buried another three to give the Falcons their largest lead of the game at 82-71 with just over a minute remaining.

The Falcons forced Wayne State into 24 turnovers on the afternoon and scored 22 points off turnovers in the victory. Fairmont State also recorded 18 assists on 27 made baskets.

Kotchman was outstanding from the field, going 10-of-18 overall and 7-of-13 from behind the arc. Weimer also chipped in 17 points in the victory, going 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Presley Tuttle had a big day off the bench for the Falcons, adding 17 points, a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.
Rachel Laskody was the fourth Falcon to reach double-figures with 13 points, four rebounds and six steals.

Fairmont State shot 41 percent from the field this afternoon and made 14 three-pointers. The Falcons also knocked down 16-of-22 free throw attempts in the win.

Four players reached double-figures for Wayne State in the setback, including 14 points apiece from Sadia Johnson and Tori Perez. Grace George recorded a double-double for the Warriors with 13 points and 18 rebounds.

The Warriors held a 51-29 advantage on the glass and scored 40 of their 73 points in the paint.

Wayne State shot 40 percent from the field, but connected on just 2-of-11 shots from behind the arc.

Fairmont State will now be idle until Wednesday, Jan. 8 when Urbana visits Joe Retton Arena for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
