ATLANTA, Ga. -- Fairmont State won the 2019 Peachtree City Baseball Classic on Sunday afternoon by picking up a 5-3 victory over Virginia State in the championship game. Senior
Kevin Ayala drove in the game-winning runs for the Falcons.

The win helped Fairmont State wrap up a 4-0 weekend to begin the season in Atlanta. The Falcons scored 11-or-more runs in three of the four games over the weekend.

On Sunday against the Trojans, the Falcons put together a strong pitching performance with JT Stegmaier (1-0) picking up the win after going seven innings and striking out seven.
Mark McKee (S, 2) also pick up his second save in four games. The trio of Stegmaier, McKee and
Hunter Haddix combined for 10 strikeouts and no walks.

At the plate, the Falcons were led by
Zach Musgrove - who went 2-of-4 with a home run and two runs batted-in.
Tyler Skidmore also batted 2-for-4 in the win.

The Falcons will return to action next Friday in Mooresville, N.C., as Fairmont State will kick off a three-game series against Pitt-Johnstown. Opening pitch is set for 1 p.m. Friday.
