CARY, N.C. -- Fairmont State improved to 8-3 on the year with a pair of wins over Findlay and St. Thomas Aquinas over the weekend in Cary, N.C.

The Falcons opened a five-game mixer in Cary, N.C. on Saturday afternoon by earning a 5-4 win over Findlay.

With Findlay leading 3-2 after six innings of play, the Falcons scored a pair of runs in the seventh to take the lead for good.
Kevin Ayala got the scoring started for the Falcons by touching home plate on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3-3. Later in the inning during
Tyler Skidmore's groundout, Joe LaRocca reached home on an error by the UF catcher to give the Falcons the 4-3 advantage.

Zach Musgrove added a fifth-run for the Falcons in the top of the ninth by hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home
Chris Green from third. Findlay scored one run in the bottom of the ninth but Fairmont State held on for the 5-4 win.

J.T. Stegmaier improved to 2-1 on the season after going four and one-thirds inning and allowing just one earned run on two hits.
Michael Stout made the start for the Falcons and pitched four innings, allowing just two runs on four hits and striking out six.

Hill and Green each recorded two hits and drove in two runs apiece for the Falcons.

On Sunday against St. Thomas Aquinas, Fairmont State rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the top of the first to earn an 8-5 victory.

With STAC still clinging to a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth, Green belted a three-RBI double to bring home three unearned runs. Aquinas walked in Fairmont's fourth run of the inning to make the score 6-4 with three innings to play.

Brian Donnelly hit an RBI single for STAC in the top of the seventh, but LaRocca provided the knockout punch with a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth that scored
Kevin Ayala and made the final score 8-5.

Will Brown (3-0) earned the victory after going four innings and allowing just one run on four hits. Brown also struck out four.
Houston Morris earned the save for the Falcons after recording the final four outs of the game for Fairmont State.

Musgrove paced the Falcon offense by going 2-of-5 with an RBI. LaRocca and Green each drove in three runs for the Falcons.

After an off day on Monday, the Falcons will return to action on Tuesday with a pair of nine inning games against Dominican (11 a.m.) and Franklin Pierce (3 p.m.).
