WHEELING, W.Va. -- The 2018-19 season came to an end for the Fairmont State women's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon, as the Falcons dropped a 67-55 final to West Virginia Wesleyan in the first round of the 2019 Mountain East Conference Tournament, presented by The Health Plan.

West Virginia Wesleyan used a 7-0 run to close the third quarter and Fairmont State never cut the lead during the fourth quarter. In addition to the 7-0 run to end the third, the Bobcats also scored 12 of the first 18 points in the fourth to push the lead to 13 (57-44) with 4:38 to play.

Following the setback, Fairmont State's season comes to an end with a 13-16 overall record. The Bobcats improved to 7-19 overall and will now face second-seeded Charleston on Thursday afternoon during the quarterfinal round.

Rachel Laskody recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Falcons.
Brooke Kurucz also chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds, and
Sierra Kotchman added 11. Fairmont State's starters accounted for all of its points on Wednesday.

Fairmont State shot just 34 percent from the field and made just 3-of-18 attempts from behind the arc in the loss. The Falcons were also outrebounded by six and had just eight assists.

Nicole Gilyard led the Bobcats with 16 points and five rebounds. Malaika Kimmons also chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds. After shooting under 30 percent from the field in the first half, Wesleyan shot 44 percent in the third quarter and 69 percent in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
